If you're looking for an alternative to BluePhoneElite, try Peter Sichel's Phone Amego. He's offering a discount to BluePhoneElite users who purchase Phone Amego before October 15th 2010.

After two years of work, BluePhoneElite 3.0 is almost finished. However, I am no longer confident that the new version will be successful enough to sustain my software business. I was recently offered an exciting opportunity to work on a new mobile technology, and after lengthy deliberation, I have decided not to release BPE3 and to accept the position. Unfortunately, this also means I will no longer be able to sell or support BluePhoneElite.

I know this will cause some frustration and disappointment; here's what I can offer:

• Support will continue to be available via email and the forums until September 10th, 2010.
• Refunds for purchases made after August 1st, 2010 must be requested via email before September 10th, 2010.
• Accounts (for retrieving lost activation codes), forums, documentation and compatibility will remain online indefinitely.
• BluePhoneElite 2 will remain available for download for existing customers only. Trial-period extension codes will not be provided.
• Customers who purchased BluePhoneElite 1 are still eligible for a free upgrade to BluePhoneElite 2. Log into your account and click the Upgrade link next to your BPE1 purchase.

I hope you will understand that this decision was not made lightly. BluePhoneElite has been my life for the last five years and I could not have done it without your encouragement and feedback. It has been my privilege to give back the same enthusiasm and support that you've shown for BPE. For the curious, I will be posting a post-mortem within the next few days eventually, detailing why I believe BPE is no longer viable.
